walk in the local countryside, collecting natural pigments
A beginning to keep an art journal, I love exploring and finding beautiful things, and also using my artwork to give me time and space to explore issues, ideas and to observe the world around me. Here are some posts of sketches, drawings, paintings etc.
climate change
just started my journal, and have been looking at other people's blogs etc, found one blog with a link to the Blog action on climate change, felt inspired that so many people had signed up to it.

Really great sketch. What natural pigments did you use? I hope to get up to speed on my art after I finish substitute teaching this wild group of middle school students. I have posted a lot of sketches on my site TheArtStudio.ning.com and on youtube channel suzetsstudio
ReplyDeleteLovely colors on this! Very serene!
ReplyDeleteLove the color in this one. Trees are so hard! Good job! Revelle
ReplyDeleteyou know, the pigments were inspired by a project from gary reef, he'd gone to australia, and posted a vid of a guy who uses only natural pigments.
ReplyDeleteso i decided to see how easy/difficult it is over here.
So all the pigments are from the picture itself, if that makes sense??, green alga from the tree, mud and ocra from the forest floor.
But then i got into trying to find unusual colours such as red and blue, and experimented with beetroot and red cabbage.
It was great fun, and i must post some of the pictures soon.
